Custom Vaulted Ceiling Yields Drama in Master

Originally conceived and designed as a sheet rock vaulted ceiling, the client and MEH discussed options for enhancing the original design. Given the master carpentry team’s extensive experience, MEH recommended adding a horizontal wood wrap extending from the vault to the first portion of the ceiling.

The architect had specified the vaulted ceiling, but as is typical in these situations, a large amount of detailed engineering and on-site geometry was required to finalize the design to provide direction to the carpentry team.

Poplar was originally specified because it was to be painted. But following the 3 week installation by master craftsmen, the client appreciated the tight tolerances and precision cutting and asked for the wood to be stained instead.
